Montana POW/MIA Initiatives

Montana Ride to Remember

The Montana Ride to Remember is an annual ride dedicated to the memory of our country's POW and MIA military personnel, with a special focus on the 53 Montana personnel. The ride is always held on the 3rd Saturday in August and goes from Helena, Montana, to West Yellowstone, Montana, on Highway 287. This highway was dedicated as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway by Montana's governor, Steve Bullock, on May 23rd, 2014.

This ride of approximately 183 miles will begin and end with POW/MIA commemoration ceremonies. The starting ceremony will be held in Helena's Memorial Park, beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. Once the ceremony has concluded, the ride will begin and will have two planned stops. The first will be a rallying point at the I-90 Town Pump near Three Forks, MT. Riders can gas up at either Wheat Montana or the Town Pump. The second rallying point will be on Charles Ave. in front of the school in Ennis, MT. Riders can top off the tank at the Cenex station just north of Ennis or at the Town Pump just past the "T" intersection. This will give everyone a couple of opportunities to stretch their legs, rest, and visit with the other participants. Riders may also join the ride at these stopping points if they desire.

There will be a police escort for the entire length of the ride. Therefore, it will not be necessary to stop at traffic lights or signs as we proceed through the various communities.
