Ride to Remember RouteThe Montana Ride to Remember is an annual ride dedicated to the memory of our country's POW/MIA military personnel, with a special focus on the 53 Montana personnel.  The ride is always held on the 3rd Saturday in August and goes from Helena, Montana, to West Yellowstone, Montana, on Highway 287.  This highway was dedicated as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway by Montana's governor, Steve Bullock, on May 23rd, 2014.

This ride of approximately 183 miles will begin and end with POW/MIA commemoration ceremonies. The starting ceremony will be held in Helena's Memorial Park, beginning promptly at 9:30 am. Once the ceremony has concluded, the ride will begin and will have two planned stops. The first will be a rallying point at the I-90 Town Pump near Three Forks, MT. Riders can gas up at either Wheat Montana or the Town Pump. The second rallying point will be on Charles Ave in front of the school in Ennis, MT. Riders can top off the tank at the Cenex station just North of Ennis or the Town Pump just past the "T" intersection. This will give everyone a couple of opportunities to stretch their legs, rest, and visit with the other participants. Riders may also join the ride at these stopping points if they desire.

There will be a police escort for the entire length of the ride. Therefore, it will not be necessary to stop at traffic lights or signs as we proceed through the various communities.

10th Annual Montana POW/MIA Ride to Remember

When:  August 19th, 2023
The ceremony begins promptly at 9:30 am
Where:  Starting at: Helena's Memorial Park
Ending at: West Yellowstone Heritage Park
Why:  To bring awareness to the 53 men from Montana who are still unaccounted for.

The group will stop at a pull-out a couple of miles north of West Yellowstone to allow riders to attach/unfurl any flags they may have for the parade ride into West Yellowstone.

The ride will conclude at approximately 1600hrs (4:00 pm) with an ending ceremony at the West Yellowstone Veterans Memorial. Riders will be responsible for finding their way home; however, a group will most likely be staying in West Yellowstone for the evening.

The table below provides a time estimate of when we will pass by or arrive/depart the various communities along our route. Some communities are quite organized, with people standing along the road waving American and/or POW/MIA flags as our participants pass by. We are providing this notification if members of each community may be interested in standing by the road in the memory of and showing support for the repatriation of our nation’s POW/MIA personnel.

The list below is of lodging possibilities at the beginning and end of the ride. Book early to ensure a room and to guarantee the best rates!
